Performance ECU Re-mapping

This procedure generally involves connecting to the vehicles diagnostic socket and extracting the files contained in the ECU (Electronic Control Unit), remodifying them and uploading them back to the ECU. This method will take about an hour or so depending on the size of the file and how complex the modification. We can also modify the re-map to your individual requirements, for example, increased torque in 3rd gear, better fuel consumption etc.

Why Re-map?

Most cars today are built with compromise in mind depending in which country they will be used. Heat, fuel grades, humidity etc. are a factor when the manufacturer builds "one vehicle to fit all". Lower tax banding also means vehicles are being built to run excessively lean to meet lower tax banding as an encouragement to the customer to buy their product. By remapping, we can unlock the full potential of the engine's capability.

General

Diesel cars, especially turbo diesels, respond better to re-mapping than petrol aspirated vehicles although there is still a good gain to be had on these. In addition to extra performance, you will also get increased torque throughout the gears. A decent improvement in economy is also achieved as a desirable by-product from re-mapping.

Safety

All our files are tried and tested to give you the maximum gain SAFELY. You do not want to have engine components scattered across the motorway when you first open up the throttle. However, it will be stipulated that all manufacturers' service recommendations are strictly adhered to, and "red-lining" the revs is discouraged.
